Geometric Patterns: Bold and colourful geometric designs, including stripes, polka dots, chevrons, or geometric shapes, can create a visually stimulating environment while being versatile enough to suit different ages.
Nature-Inspired: Patterns with nature elements like trees, leaves, flowers, or forest animals can bring a sense of the outdoors inside. These designs often feature soothing colours and can work well in calming spaces.

]]>The Ultimate Guide to Caring for Linen Curtains
Linen curtains are a popular choice for their natural beauty, durability, and ability to add a touch of elegance to any room. However, to keep them looking their best, it's important to know how to properly care for them. In this guide, we will discuss some essential tips to help you maintain and prolong the lifespan of your linen curtains.
Regular Cleaning:
Linen curtains should be dusted or vacuumed regularly to remove any dirt, dust, or pet hair. Using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner or a soft cloth, gently clean the surface of the curtains. Avoid using abrasive materials or scrubbing vigorously, as this may damage the delicate fibres.
Spot Cleaning:
In case of spills or stains, it's important to act quickly. Blot the stain gently with a clean, damp cloth or sponge, using mild soap or a gentle detergent. Avoid rubbing the stain, as it may spread or damage the fabric. Rinse the area with clean water and blot dry with a towel. If the stain persists, consult a professional cleaner.
Washing:
Our range of linen and linen blend curtains can be gentle, cold, machine-washed. Use only a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics. Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can weaken the fibres and cause discolouration. After washing, air-dry the curtains by hanging them outdoors or on a drying rack. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight, as it may cause fading.
Ironing:
Linen curtains tend to wrinkle easily, but they can be easily ironed to restore their smooth appearance. Set your iron to the linen setting or medium heat. Iron the curtains while they are slightly damp to make the process easier. Place a clean, damp cloth over the curtains to protect them from direct heat and prevent scorching. Iron in gentle, straight strokes, taking care not to press too hard or linger in one spot.
Storage:
When not in use, it's important to store linen curtains properly to prevent them from getting damaged. Ensure that the curtains are clean and completely dry before folding them neatly. Avoid folding them along creases or sharp edges to prevent permanent marks. Store them in a cool, dry place, preferably in a breathable fabric bag or pillowcase to protect them from dust and insects.
By following these simple care tips, you can ensure that your linen curtains remain beautiful, fresh, and long-lasting. Regular cleaning, spot treatment, gentle washing, proper ironing, and careful storage are the key elements to maintaining the natural beauty of your linen curtains. With a little care and attention, your linen curtains will continue to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your home for years to come.

Reupholstering a chair can be a fun and rewarding DIY project that can breathe new life into old and worn-out furniture. Whether you want to update the look of your chair or restore a family heirloom, reupholstering allows you to customise your furniture to suit your style. While it may seem like a daunting task, with the right tools and a little patience, you can easily transform a tired chair into a stunning piece. In this blog post, we will guide you through the simple steps to reupholster a chair.
Before you begin, gather all the necessary materials. You will need a screwdriver, pliers, staple remover, staple gun, fabric, batting, foam (if necessary), and a pair of sharp scissors. Make sure to choose a fabric that is durable and suits your style preference.
Creating a unique design: Choosing custom upholstery fabric allows you to create a unique and personalised look for your chair. You can select from our wide range of patterns, colours, and textures that match your style preferences and complement the chair's design.
If you're aiming to match the chair with existing décor or furniture, custom fabric allows you to find or create the exact matching or complementary fabric. You can buy upholstery fabric samples from us to help you decide on the perfect look.
Start by removing the seat cushion from the chair frame. Use a screwdriver to detach the seat from the frame, and if necessary, use pliers to remove any staples or nails holding the fabric in place. Take note (we take pics on our phone to be really sure!) of the order in which the pieces are removed to make reassembling easier later.
Carefully remove the old fabric from the seat cushion, taking care not to tear it. Use a staple remover or pliers to remove any staples or nails that are holding the fabric in place. Take your time during this step to avoid damaging the foam or batting underneath.
Inspect the condition of the foam and batting underneath the old fabric. If they are worn out or damaged, you may need to replace them. Measure and cut new foam and batting to the same size as the old ones, and attach them to the seat cushion using spray adhesive.
Lay your new fabric on a flat surface and place the seat cushion face down on top of it. Ensure that the fabric is positioned correctly and has enough excess to wrap around the cushion. Use a staple gun to attach the fabric to the cushion, starting from the center and working your way outwards. Pull the fabric taut as you go, but be careful not to pull too tightly to avoid distorting the cushion shape.
Once the seat cushion is reupholstered, reattach it to the chair frame using the screws you removed earlier. Align the holes and tighten the screws securely. Check for any loose or wobbly parts and tighten them as needed.
Trim any excess fabric and ensure that the fabric is smooth and wrinkle-free. Use a fabric protector spray to prevent stains and spills from ruining your newly upholstered chair.
Congratulations! You have successfully reupholstered your chair. By following these simple steps, you can give new life to old furniture and create a unique piece that reflects your personal style. Remember to take your time, be patient, and enjoy the process. Happy reupholstering!

Our team has spent much time working on the original artwork from wallpaper obtained from the William Morris Society, to create beautiful William Morris Art Nouveau fabric patterns. We are so excited to launch our own line of William Morris fabric that has his most popular prints such as Strawberry Thief, as well as some designs that have never been released on bolt fabric before.
It was a creative challenge for fabric designer Amanda Joy to create repeat patterns from some of the artwork, but it is a project that is definitely inspiring, and such an honour to work with the art of one of the worlds fore fathers in pattern design.
We are thrilled to be able to celebrate William Morris as not just one of the greatest designers in the world, but as a British forefather who had enormous impact on Australian design society (particularly in Adelaide) in the late 19th century in interior design through his exquisite textiles and wallpapers.

]]>We support Australian fabric designers and Australian small business wherever possible. We are proud to bring you a truly unique range of Australian fabrics that are printed in Australia.
We often get asked about our fabrics:
1. Is your company Australian owned and operated?
Yes we most definitely are - we are an Australian family owned and run fabric business, operating out of regional New South Wales.
2. Are your fabrics "Australian Made"?
Unfortunately Australia does not produce it's own woven cotton fabric bases for us to print on. We are aware of cotton stretch/lycra that is certified as an Australian made product, but not any woven cottons. We are doing our best to be Australian made by transitioning over to 100% Australian designed, Australian printed, and (when possible!) Australian milled cotton where possible. We use Australian business partners for everything from packing, stickers, labels, I.T, and even graphic designers.
3. Do you support Australian textile artists?
Yes. Most of our fabrics are designed in house or by Australian artists. We are also starting to empower other Aussie artists such as Rebecca from Rathenart, Carolyn Quan, Fabriculture and Elise Martinson Fabrics. You can see our wonderful showcase of Australian fabric designers right here.
We are currently seeking submissions from Australian Artists and designers. Please email us at contact@australianafabrics.com.au for submission guidelines.
We hope you love sewing with the fabrics we choose and offer at our store. And thank you for supporting our family company.
